Equipment & Apparel

New students or beginners are not required to wear the correct outfit until their first grading which take place every three months. It is important that the student enjoys karate and wants to continue before spending the money on the outfit (Gi). Our club Gi has our association calligraphy embroidered on to it but if students or parents do not wish to purchase one our club Gi’s it is important that they purchase a plain (unbranded) white Gi and purchase one of our calligraphy badges to sew on to it.

Once a student reaches Yellow Belt they will need to have sparring equipment which includes a head guard, mitts, shin and instep leg pads, mouth guard, a groin box for boys/men and a breast protector for the ladies. It is important that the head guard, mitts and pads are purchased through our club/association in order for them to meet the association and EKF requirements. Students of Yellow Belt and above will need to bring their sparring equipment along to each class as they will be required to wear it when sparring in class in preparation from their next (fighting) grade.

Brown Belts and above will need to learn how to use a variety of weapons for their gradings. Please ask your instructor for details.
